The Pick n Pay group is a South African based retailer that operates in South Africa, and in 8 sub-Saharan countries: Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Mozambique, Mauritius, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Lesotho. The business has been listed on the JSE since 1968 and is headed up by CEO Sean Summers.
The group offers food, non-edible groceries, clothing, health and beauty, pharmacies, liquor, building hardware, homewares/textiles and general merchandise.
Stores are multi format and multi operational and encompass Pick n Pay (corporate and franchise), Boxer and TM Supermarkets Zimbabwe (of which they own a 49% share).
August 2022 saw the Pick n Pay business being segmented into two distinct store cluster focussing on the middle/upper end of the shopper market with Pick n Pay, and the middle market being serviced by Pick n Pay Qualisave. Qualisave offers the shopper a budget friendly range of products that have been ranged for these stores to address the budget shopper’s needs.
