Unitrade Management Services (UMS) is a voluntary trading organisation that was established in 2001 with the aim of providing a unique and comprehensive business solution to independent wholesalers and retailers in South and Southern Africa.
UMS members trade under a number of brand names including Powertrade (wholesale and hybrid outlets), Food Town (retail outlets) and Best Buy (wholesale/retail outlets) or under their own brand, as UMS Trading Partners.
In order to ensure the business remains not only successful, but also sustainable in its quest to ensure the success of the independent entrepreneur, as of November 2017, UMS restructured its business into a consolidated holding company to be known as UMS Investment Holdings (UIH), offering a bigger network, wider distribution capabilities and more members. This business is divided into two operating entities:
1. UMS and Best Buy
2. Consolidated Store Holdings (CSH)
CSH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of UMS Investment Holdings. The subsidiary comprises Price Rite, Power Trade, Food Town Hyper, Food Town and Big Deal.
