The Kit Kat Group is an independent, family-owned group of supermarkets and cash and carry stores located in Pretoria, Johannesburg and Limpopo. It trades in FMCG, with building supplies and clothing divisions.
Founded in 1953 by members of the Gani family, the brand started off with humble beginnings as the Kit Kat Café and Restaurant in the old Asiatic Bazaar in Pretoria. Over the years, the well-established business grew in success until the cafe was converted into a self-service supermarket in 1973. Kit Kat now currently trades under the Kit Kat Cash and& Carry, Kit Kat Express, Kit Kat Express Cash and Carry and the Kit Kat Market store brands and formats.
The Kit Kat Group’s strategy and purpose is to focus on efficiency and value in the selling of consumer goods and offer the best range of products with great services to their valued customers. It is underpinned by the simple but far-reaching basics of great wholesale and retail prices and excellent service, while employing state-of-the-art systems.
As a family business, the Group regards its customers as being part of its journey and family and strives to create a ‘win-win’ relationship with its business partners.
Looking forward, the Group believes it has established a solid foundation on which to build. Plans into 2022 include growing the core cash and carry business by at least two more stores.
